LIFE REGROW

The objective of this project is to restore a space occupied by disused water pools, applying in situ different biological strategies (Bioremediation, Phytoremediation and composting) in order to reduce contamination, transforming the area into a multidisciplinary green infrastructure for educational and training.

LIFE ALGAR-BBE

Development of new biostimulants with a biocidal effect from microalgae and aromatic plants to reduce the use of agricultural chemicals.

LIFE CITRUS PACK

The objective of the project is to demonstrate that sustainability and efficiency can be applied to agricultural and industrial practices through research and increasing the potential of by-products through their valorization in a series of new value chains.

These vegetable secondary products, whose origin is based on transformation processes, will be used as natural additives to reinforce 100% biodegradable plastic containers and bottles.

LIFE CYCLOPS

The LIFE CYCLOPS project aims to technically and economically demonstrate a sustainable technology to recover and value polyphenols from olive oil industry waste. This solution offers a circular economy and zero waste model to take advantage of these surpluses and turn them into high value-added products for other industries.

In addition, the project will not only focus on polyphenols but on the comprehensive management of waste. Beyond the reuse of these by-products, an attempt will be made to produce biogas and digestate, a residual material generated from anaerobic digestion, for use as compost in agriculture. Likewise, the transferability of the LIFE CYCLOPS solution to the wine industry will be carried out.

LIFE TECMINE

LIFE TECMINE intends to test and evaluate the feasibility and suitability of different restoration techniques in mining areas of the Mediterranean area, from the perspective of environmental, technical and social sustainability.

LIFE COMPOLIVE

Revaluation of pruning waste or other related by-products from the olive oil industry into new bioproducts such as biocomposites for new sectors (the automotive and furniture sector, both for the home and urban), following a circular economy strategy, represents a double benefit in terms of environmental effects.

LIFE SOLIEVA

The LIFE SOLIEVA project aims to respond to the environmental challenges of the table olive sector in the treatment of its process water and update environmental legislation related to the use of water. In this sense, the project focuses on demonstrating the technical, environmental and economic feasibility of organic compound recovery (OCR) technology based on membrane filtration, vacuum concentrator and spray drying, combined with advanced solar evaporation ( ASE)

MEWLIFE

MEWLIFE is a LIFE project that aims to demonstrate the environmental benefit and economic viability of an innovative approach to produce microalgae biomass in an integrated phototrophic-heterotrophic culture system using pre-concentrated olive oil wastewater (in a filtration plant by membrane) as a carbon source for algae cultivation, therefore contributing to the reuse and recovery of waste.

The MEWLIFE project aims to demonstrate the environmental benefits and economic viability of an innovative algae biomass farming system.

In particular, wastewater from olive oil production is reused as a carbon source for the growth of microalgae and thus valorized.

The starch and carotenoids accumulated in the algae biomass will be extracted and tested for the production of biopolymers and their application in nutraceuticals.

The replicability of the process will also be tested using another by-product of the agri-food industry: buttermilk

IDIES

It is an educational project for initiation into research that began in 2014 at CEBAS-CSIC. The main objective of this project is to show first-year Baccalaureate students, in their Research and MARES modalities, what research is and how it is practiced, making them participate and collaborate in projects led by researchers of recognized national and international prestige.
