VALUATION OF THE RESIDUE GENERATED IN THE PROCESS OF EXTRACTION OF OLIVE OIL:
The project entitled “Valorization of bio-waste resulting from the olive oil extraction process”, whose acronym is LIFE OLEA REGENERA, was created to design and develop a new process focused on olive oil mills through which the valorization of waste generated in olive oil extraction process will be produced. Currently, the alperujo or residue generated during olive oil extraction is a huge problem due to the high contamination that its treatment involves in pomace plants. The alperujo produced during olive oil extraction is taken to pomace plants to obtain pomace oil (of worse quality than olive oil). This type of oil is obtained by chemical processes that entail a great emission of particles and gases to the atmosphere.
